When you create an account, place an inquiry, or apply as a designer, we collect:

Account information: name, email address, and password (securely hashed).
Designer profiles: business name, craft details, portfolio images, city, region, and contact information you choose to share.
Inquiries & messages: the content of messages you send between customers and designers.
Measurements: body measurement data submitted for custom orders, stored securely and shared only with the designer you selected.
Usage data: pages visited, browser type, and device information collected automatically to improve the platform.

2. How we use your information

To operate the marketplace and connect customers with designers.
To send transactional emails (order confirmations, inquiry notifications, account verification).
To review designer applications and portfolio uploads for quality and appropriateness.
To improve and personalise your experience on EthioMade.
To prevent fraud and enforce our terms of service.

3. Information sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only in these circumstances:

Between customers and designers: when you send an inquiry, your name and message are shared with the designer.
Service providers: we use Supabase (database and authentication), Resend (transactional email), and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data on our behalf under strict agreements.
Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

4. Data security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure password hashing, row-level security policies on our database, and role-based access controls. Portfolio images and documents are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls.

5. Your rights

You can:

Access, update, or delete your account information at any time from your account settings.
Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
Request deletion of your account and associated data.

6. Cookies

We use essential cookies only — for authentication sessions and theme preference. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
